I baked today, kind of . . .

I love baked goods and the smell that lingers in the kitchen when you bake, but the fact is that I don’t have anyone to bake for. As it happens, I will have company tonight and they will love the chocolatey gooeyness that I prepared, but on a daily basis anything I baked would go to waste. So, despite the fact that there wasn’t an oven in use, I am claiming today’s culinary happiness as a baking success. In truth, I only made rice crispy treats with Cocoa Pebbles. If you love chocolate and the regular rice crispy treats, then these are for you.

The recipe is the same, you just use Cocoa Pebbles instead of regular rice cereal. I would definitely suggest that if you err in their making that you make them on the dry side since the cereal is already sweet.

Of course, the fun part for me is in the plating and presentation, so as I wait for my guest, they are on my favorite pumpkin shaped plates on the counter with a black placemat and a spicy pumpkin candle burning close by. I love cats and have two, so of course, when I saw this black cat cutting board, I had to have it even though I knew I would never use it. It sits on the counter, in the corner next to the appliance garage always with a bow to fit the season.

Maybe it’s a little early to do a Halloween staging . . . who am I kidding? It’s never to early for me and I know my guests will appreciate the seasonal vignette and that makes any effort worth it.
